I have posted this information a number of times over the past 10 years,
and have never found anyone connected to my Ferguson family. I will try
once again. Who knows?

Euel Crawford Ferguson was born about 1828, location unknown.
He died before April 1899 in Jefferson County, AL. In Civil War papers
his first name spelled Ewell. A grandson named for him also spelled it Euel.
His wife was Elce / Dilcey / Epsey Unknown, born about 1832, place unknown.
She died after 1880. No marriage record has been found for this couple.
He cannot be found in the 1850 census, in any state.

Their children were:
Alice Ferguson born about 1852
Arazella Haseltine Ferguson, born July 7, 1853 (my great-grandmother)
John W. Ferguson, born December 1855
James H. Ferguson, born about 1858
Harriett Ferguson, born about 1862
Mary J. Ferguson, born about 1864

The family is listed in the 1860 census, Carrollton Post Office, Pickens County, Alabama.
They are listed in the 1870 census, Macon Post Office, Noxubee County, Mississippi.
They are listed in the 1880 census, Pickensville, Pickens County, Alabama.

The parents have different states listed as their place of birth and different ages
that are no where near 10 year increments. The birthplace of the children in 1860
and 1870 are consistent - mostly born in Alabama with a couple born in Mississippi.

The handed down story in the family: my great-grandmother was disowned by the
Ferguson family when she married my great-grandfather. They were reportedly wealthy
plantation owners. I have no evidence of this wealth. The 1860 census lists the value
of his real estate at $1,000. My great-grandfather's family migrated westward to
Texas between 1870 and 1880. Word is that there was no further contact with the Ferugson family.

I have not located any trace of either of the males (James or John) after the 1880 census.
The names are too common to determine where they may have gone.

Anyone with knowledge of these people or suggestions for places to search ... appreciated.
