I found an interesting website : http://www.genexchange.com/ny/emigrant.cfm This site (NYGENExchange) lists account information for the Emigrant Savings Bank in New York. I've included the 2 Ferguson accounts here (same person). Please keep in mind they are adding more accounts all the time. Hope it helps someone! Donna NYGenExchange Emigrant Savings Bank Records

From: Donna Subject: Re: [Ferguson-L] Gilbert Ferguson-NY? Hi Kathy, I'm looking for information on a Gabriel (could be Gilbert?) in NY, born about 1818. When I saw your query it made me think that with all the incorrect spellings going on, it might be possible that Gabriel and Gilbert could be mispelled. I have found nothing on Gabriel's parents nor siblings but a relative (found via Roots-L!!) researched and discovered some census information. I don't know how far Ulter Co and Watervliet are from each other, but it might bear looking into. I'll also include a short tree of our Fergusons. In the 1850 Federal census for the State of New York,Ulster County, there was a Gabriel Ferguson -Age38 -b.NY -Boat Builder -unmarried -who lived with an Edwin Goy or Joy-30 -male -Grocer -b.NY -value of real estate owned-1000. -There was also someone with the last name of Mariah -not sure of age -b.NY living in the same house. In the 1840 Ulster Co-Esopus census in NY, which only has the name of head of household. Gabriel J. Phyllis, Thank you for the information! Can you tell me what the Boston Transcript is? Is it a newspaper? Magazine? Did you find it in the library? This is the first time I've come across a Gabriel other than the censuses! Donna At 07:29 PM 9/26/98 EDT, you wrote: >Hi, >There was a Gilbert Ferguson, Rev. soldier who received a pension in NY. Subject: Re: [Ferguson-L] Re: Ferguson-Ulster, NY Hi Michelle, I noticed you listed Gabriel and not Gilbert, is that correct? I too am researching Gabriel Ferguson, b.ca.1818 in NY as estimated by census data. The latest Gabriel you list is born 1780-1790. Do you have anything further on that family that could link my Fergusons to any of the ones you've listed? My Gabriel was found in Ulster Co too. Here's a short list of my Ferguson's so you don't have to rummage through old emails to find my lineage: 1 Gabriel Ferguson b: 1818 in New York +Mary Jane SILSBY b: 1831 d: January 03, 1913 2 Edward Ferguson +Anne ? 2 Willam Ferguson b: 1852 +Carrie ROGERS 2 Willard (or Millard) Ferguson 2 Alanzo Ferguson 2 Mira Ferguson +Sam TAYLOR 2 Florence Ferguson 2 Charles M.
