Saw a query a day or to ago for a Mary Ferguson, born 1831. I'm looking
for
Mary A. Ferguson, born 1833 in Leeds, England. She married H. H.
STOCKTON,
probably about 1853/1855, place unknown.
This family is known to have lived at Cussawago, PA, in 1857-1858, where
Stockton was Baptist minister. Their first child, Lilla Clara Stockton,
was
born in May of 1856 or 1857, place uncertain.
>From 1858 to 1861, Mary A. Stockton a member of First Baptist Church of
Panama, NY (Chautauqua Co.) where her husband was pastor. A second
child,
Willie, was born about 1859-1860. Mary A. Ferguson/STOCKTON died
at Panama,
NY, 18 Jan. 1861 of causes unknown.
Of course I am seeking answers to all the "unknowns" expressed or implied
in
the above data. I would also like information on Mary Ferguson's
parents
and ancestors. Family rumor has it that she was from a prominent,
possibly
titled, Leeds family. The most interesting question of all would
be how she
came to find and marry a country preacher with western Pennsylvania roots.
Any help would be appreciated. I have information on the Stockton
family if
anyone is interested.
