Hello- I also have a John Ferguson that I'm researching. John P.
Ferguson born in Ontario in 1832/1833. I have not been able to locate
where in Ontario he was born or who his parents were. He was supposedly
one of nine brothers. In 1852 when he was 19 years old, he migrated to
Niagara County, New York, Town of Porter (Ransomville). On April 1, 1853
he married Mary Ann Knapp. They had 7 children, Elise Anna Ferguson,
Nelson William Ferguson, Almarion Ferguson, Peter Ferguson, George
Franklin Ferguson, Lily Mae Ferguson, and Mary Ferguson.
In 1868, John P. Ferguson and his family moved to Burton, Michigan
(Genesee County). They lived there until 1882, and then they went to
Dakota Territory. They settled in Manchester, South Dakota, where the
family remains to this day.
