Descended from Thomas Ferguson and Matilda Gooch, married 21 May 1825, St  
Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England.   Matilda and most of their 8  
children including my GGrandfather, George G. Ferguson and siblings Charlotte,  
Emma, John, and Mary arrived in New York 7 Nov 1849 from Leeds, Yorks,  
England. From there the children spread out, one each to New York, Indiana and  
California. George moved first to Alton, IL where he joined the Union Army  
during the Civil War. Then on to California and finally Portland OR.  
GGGrandfather Thomas had apparently arrived in the US in 1847.  Three of  the 
children were not on the ship with GGGrandmother Matilda - Elizabeth,  William D 
and Matilda but the family was all together in the 1850 Census in  Township 
5, Pike county, Illinois.
