Trying again.  I saw the note on Barbara McKinney.  I descend from Barbara
& William McKinney.  Family  tradition says Barbara was scalped in August
1761 and left for dead.  Had she died, I wouldn't be writting this now.
Small world.  However, the version of the story as told in Beth Usry's note
is very interesting - first time I've heard/seen details.  I understand the
story is documented in a book on colonial women.  I haven't located that
book since I'm not sure about title & author.  Any help with the title is
appreciated.  Also, any help toward the McKinneys also appreciated.

In November 1761, Barbara gave birth to my ancestor Hannah McKinney.
Hannah married John Steadman about 1784.  The Steadman line is well
documented back throught the Barton family to about 1200 (maybe 1150).

I descend from Thomas Farguson/Ferguson born about 1750, married Rachel.
Apparently they were in Wilkes County NC 1780s to about 1809.  They appear
in 1810 Census for Greenville County SC.  Line is documented after 1810.

Just in case the file attachment also went out, I'll apologize again,  Ken...
