From: Allen Ferguson James Sweetman Ferguson is the name that my family has always called him. I have a copy of divorce papers filed in Polk Co., OR in Apr 1886 and he signed his name as James S Ferguson. I don't know why his middle initial is listed with an L in 1860. You know those census takers. The divorce papers contain lots of great info. Married 1846 in Montcalm Co.,MI, born in Canada. Burdick W Ferguson (James's son and my GGrandfather) made the move to Washington (where I am) and is buried here. James and Philadelphia both died in Falls City, Polk Co., OR. Allen Ferguson In the 1860 Mecosta Co. Michigan census, City of Pierson, I found James Ferguson with his family (Philadelphia his wife, and the children Eliza, Mary E, Richard E, James F, Burdick W, Henry L, Emma J) and I believe his brother Jacob and his family (Eleanor his wife, and the children Nicholas J, Abigail N, Elizabeth J, Rebecca E, Jacob W, and Wellington L). James listed himself and 2 of his children as being born in Holdien C.W.. Jacob listed his whole family was born in Holdien C.W. also. I havn't found out where Holdien is yet??? I later found Jacob and his family in the 1880 census in Emmet Cointy, MI. I found James in the 1900 census in PolkCounty. Oregon.I hope some of my Fergusons will be recognized by some list members, and maybe someone may know where in Ontario Holdien is or was.
