My gen report does have some duplicated material due to cousins marrying
cousins, but it seemed
clearer to leave it in rather than cut it out.  I have noted the family
groups where I am searching for further information..... I hope this may be of help to someone and maybe find me some new cousins...

Name:      Ferguson, Dougald
Cemetery:  Lakeview, Sarnia  County:    Lambton

Came from Glasgow by sailing ship in 1821 arriving June 22, with two young
sons. A tailor by
trade and training, they settled on a bush farm in Lanark County, Twp of
Ramsay, (another account
says Dalhousie) about 40 miles NW of Ottawa, then known as Bytown.  There
they added 6 children
to the family. About 1836 they left that area and came to Lampton County
sailing from Kingston to
Hamilton and travelling to Errol by wagon and oxen. Errol was a small
community on the shore of
Lake Huron and they acquired a log house on the 6th line of Plympton Twp.
Mandaumin United Church
is on the SW corner of the farm.

There they spent the rest of their lives, raised their families and are
buried in Lakeview
Cemetary, Sarnia.

** Great- Grandfather Dougald had a brother known as Duncan the Turner who
made fine furniture,
some of which is still in existance and use.  He was probably the father of
Big Bill (William)
who also lived on the London Road.  Sisters were Margaret, Lucy, Agnes and
Mary and a brother at
Parkhill.  Another sister Kate was the mother of the three Wellwood
children.

 ii. COLIN Ferguson, b. March 01, 1867, Island of Luing, Argyll, Scotland;
d. 1958, East Williams
Township.

Came to Canada in the early 1890's and settled in the New Liskard area.
Eventually moved to
Argyle Street in East Williams Twp to Lot 16, Con 2 Several members of the
Ferguson family lived
there with him; his mother Helen Ann who died in 1906, His sister Elizabeth,
his nephew Duncan,
and his niece Catherine.

The 1901 census gives:
Ferguson, Colin  Head born March 1, 1867 in Scotland  Imm. 1890
                  Helen   mother    May, 1836           Scotland
Elizabeth sister  July 13, 1883       Scotland
Duncan    brother July 4, 1886        Scotland
Catherine sister   May 9, 1886        Scotland

This creates some confusion re the relationships in the household.

If Helen Ann was 26 when Kate was born and 29 when Colin was born it is
extremely unlikely that
she gave birth to Elizabeth Duncan and Catherine in her late 40's. Also
Duncan and Catherine can
not be siblings by their birth dates.
It is likely that Elizabeth, Duncan and Catherine are all grandchildren of
Helen Ann.

Parkhill Gazette Review; Nov. 14, 1901    Obituary:    AN OLD RESIDENT GONE

One of the oldest residents of East Williams passed peacefully away on
October 30th, in the
person of Mrs. Isabel McCallum, at the age of 82 years. She was born in
Argyllshire, Scotland, on
February 12th, 1819, and came to this country with her husband and eldest
son in 1842. After a
wearisome passage which occupied six weeks, they landed in New York and came
overland to Canada
and settled on the 18th conc. of E. Williams. In this township she lived 59
years.  The remains
were interred in the family plot at Nairn, on Saturday, November 2nd, and
were followed to their
last resting place by children, grand children and great grand children,
besides nearly one
hundred buggies, containing friends and neighbours who in this manner,
showed their sympathy for
the bereaved and their respect for the one who was gone. Rev. Mr. Elliot
conducted the services
and paid a high tribute to the Christian life and influence of the deceased.
A sad feature of
this bereavement is that her son Archie, with whom she has for years made
her home, was absent in
New Ontario at the time and will not know of his mother's death until his
return. Another son,
Neil, is in New Mexico. She leaves three sons and three daughters. Among the
mourners present at
the funeral were Mr. Duncan McCallum of Iowa, Mrs Blaicher and Sadie
Blaicher of Bay City; Mr.
and Mrs. Duncan Ferguson of Lobo; Mr. Duncan Campbell of Lobo; Mr. Duncan
McDerimid of Sarnia;
Mr. Arch. Cameron of Hamilton; Misses M. and Kate McCallum and Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Dawson and
children of Parkhill.

NB: The "Mr and Mrs Duncan Ferguson can only by elimination of dates be her
brother "Saginaw"
Ferguson and his second wife Nancy McColl.

Archie McCallum of the 17th Conc. East Williams was called upon by his
community to perform the
vital service of judging a bagpipe competition between the local favorite,
Sandy Commel, and the
contender, an American named Malcolm Ferguson. Opinions were heated between
the rival factions,
but Mr. McCallum declared the contender the undisputed winner because Sandy
piped so furiously
that he burst his pipes. "He lost the competition" said Mr. McCallum, " But
he has lungs like an
elephant"
