My Ferguson family originated in America in the mid 1600s:
Robert & Ferguson, Sr. & his wife Jennet, whose descendants were in Henrico and Chesterfield Co.'s, VA.
A few generations later, my branch migrated to Bedford Co., VA: 
John Ferguson, Sr. (d. 1786, Bedford Co.), son of Moses Ferguson (d. 1750, Chesterfield Co., VA) & wife Martha (d. 1778, Chesterfield Co., VA)
& Mary (Gill) Ferguson. 
Mary Gill was a daughter of Joseph & Elizabeth Gill of Henrico Co., VA, then Chesterfield Co., VA (formed 1750 from Henrico).
John & Mary (Gill) Ferguson's son was: Capt. John Ferguson, Jr. (d. 1836, Franklin Co., VA) & unknown wife;
their son Moses Ferguson (b. 1794, Franklin Co., VA) & Sophia Phelps (b. 1793, Bedford Co., VA), both d. Monroe Co., KY;
their son Sparrel P. Ferguson (Reverend, a minister) (b. 1818, Franklin Co., VA, d. 1888, Monroe Co., KY) & Charlotte T. Harris;
their son Samuel Turner Ferguson & Louella "Ella" McPherson, of Monroe Co., KY – my great-grandparents.
