The Ferguson Family in Scotland and America
Microreproduction of original published : Seneca Falls, NY : M.L. Ferguson,
1905 (Canandaigua, NY)
Robert, John, and George Ferguson, three sons of George Ferguson at Old
Meldrum in Scotland, entered the English army in 1693 under the command
of their uncle, Colonel James Ferguson. The three brothers are recorded
in Scotland as having died in the army, unmarried. "It is believed
they did not die in the army, but after the death of their uncle, General
James Ferguson, on whom they probably depended for promotion, they left
the military service and accepted the first opportunity to seek their fortunes
in what then known as the New World. Infact it is now believed that
these three brothers were the traditional brothers Robert, John, and George,
who were the pioneers of the Ferguson family in America"--p 79-80
Robert Ferguson died in Maryland, where the city of Washington, D.C. is
now located. John Ferguson moved about 1740 from Prince George Co,
